In a world of non-stop schedules, strict regimes and optimised everything, there’s something kind of freeing about summer that allows us to relax the rules a little.
So, while your routine might look a little different right now as you try to keep all the plates spinning, say yes to as many last-minute plans as possible, squeeze in one last trip away and enjoy the sun without overheating, consider this your mid-summer check-in.
A moment to notice how you’re feeling and give your body a little more of what it needs (when was the last time you actually ate a vegetable?) while there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy.
If you’ve been here a while, you can probably guess where we’re starting - with your gut.
Why? Because its influence reaches far beyond digestion, with the gut microbiome playing a role in everything from immune function to skin health. So when our usual habits shift - what we’re eating, how we’re sleeping, how much we’re moving - it can often be one of the first places we feel it.
The good news? Supporting your gut doesn’t need to mean disrupting your summering with a complicated routine. After all, we know it’s often the simple things that make the biggest difference.

First things first: when did you last eat a vegetable?
Zero judgement here, it’s a question we asked ourselves this week too!
Between the holiday buffet, weekends away and days spent on the go, it’s surprisingly easy for the basics to slip without us really noticing. And while summer is made to be enjoyed, and you absolutely should enjoy that extra scoop of gelato or morning croissant, bringing a little more variety back onto your plate is one of the simplest ways to support your gut.
Our gut is home to trillions of microorganisms, collectively known as the gut microbiome. A varied diet rich in plant foods provides different types of fibre and nutrients, helping to support a diverse microbiome and healthy digestion.
Summer is actually a pretty perfect time to lean into it. Think berries with that breakfast pastry, tomatoes and herbs thrown into colourful salads for dinner, or a collagen bar thrown in your bag with some nuts and seeds for your travel day. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices all help to bring a little more variety back onto your plate.
We’re not aiming for perfection, and certainly not restriction. Just think: more plants = more colour = more variety = a happier gut.

Next up: how much water have you actually had today?
We know, another obvious one, but nursing that morning iced coffee doesn’t exactly count (we’re sorry!). Add in the afternoon Aperol and that bottle of water you’ve been carrying around all day but have hardly touched, and suddenly you're dehydrated and overstimulated.
In warmer weather, when we’re naturally losing more fluid through sweat, keeping on top of hydration matters even more. Water supports everything from healthy skin to normal digestion, particularly when you’re increasing your fibre intake, helping everything keep moving as it should.
You can still enjoy all of the above (plus an iced cacao or two!), just keep water nearby and sip little and often throughout the day. And if you want to mix it up a little, try adding an electrolyte sachet, especially if you’re working out or it’s a particularly hot day. We’re also loving fresh berries, cucumber, mint or citrus thrown in with plenty of ice.

A little consistency goes a long way
We’re certainly not here to tell you to swap late summer nights for a 9pm bedtime, but if every day has started to look completely different, a few familiar anchors can help establish consistency your body might well be craving.
Sleep, movement and stress, as well as how and what we’re eating, can all influence digestive health, which means supporting your gut isn’t only about what’s on your plate.
Maybe it’s getting outside for a walk before the day gets too warm, making time for a proper breakfast before heading out, prioritising a little more sleep when you can, or simply sitting down to eat rather than just grabbing something quick for lunch on the go.
Nothing that requires a whole new morning routine, just a few familiar habits that help you feel a little more like yourself, even when summer looks beautifully different from one day to the next.

Pack the rituals that you know feel good
And finally, we’ve touched on having a few familiar anchors, but don’t forget to take them with you! Wellness should feel effortless whether you’re at home or away.
There’s something to be said for having one or two habits that stay the same, wherever summer takes you. The morning walk, five quiet minutes to journal before everyone else wakes up, or swapping that first cup of the day for a nourishing cup of HOLY CACAO that you know is going to make you feel good.
Packing your favourite blend is one of the simplest ways to bring a little intention back into the day. The ceremonial cacao is familiar, comforting and delicious. The grass-fed bone broth is packed with natural collagen and amino acids to help support summer skin and the gut lining. Then there’s maca for inner balance and a little Celtic salt to help replenish lost minerals.
It’s simple, intentional nourishment that travels surprisingly well. We still like to make it hot and frothy when the mornings are slower, or pour it over plenty of ice when summer is doing what summer does best.

Now, back to summering…
Consider this your reminder that feeling good through summer doesn’t require perfect routines or getting everything right.
Eat the gelato, book the last-minute trip. Stay out later than you planned and dance until dawn with your best friends! Somewhere amongst all that summering, just take a moment to come back to the little things you know make you feel good.
A little more colour on your plate, plenty of water, a few familiar anchors and the rituals worth packing with you.
There’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy!
